Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX

February was a fantastic month for gamers with a heap of announcements for new games and consoles. Among all the high profiled announcements such as Assassin's Creed IV and Playstation 4, a remake of a 10 year old game was never going to get too much publicity. However, when that game is Kingdom Hearts, it got plenty. (IGN, Gamespot, Joystiq to name a few.)

Goofy, Sora and Donald
First released in 2002, Kingdom Hearts brought together two of the coolest franchises in history, Final Fantasy and Disney. Players followed Sora, a young boy from Destiny Islands, who teamed up with Donald and Goofy on a quest to stop the evil heartless from destroying worlds. Players traveled through the familiar Disney worlds from movies such as Aladdin, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan and Tarzan.

Becoming a big franchise on its own, Kingdom Hearts now has seven games across different platforms, with rumours of an eighth installment, Kindom Hearts III, circulating the internet for years. Some versions of the games, such as Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, containing more storylines, weapons and gameplay tweaks than its original version, were only released in Japan. Being unavailable in European and North American markets, many fans across the globe missed out....until now.

Square Enix is proudly presenting Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, exclusively for PS3, to be made available to all markets. Players will get a HD remastered version of KH Final Mix as well as KH Re:Chain of Memories and a cinematic retelling of KH 358/2 Days.
Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories was originally released on the Nintendo DS and later ported to the PS2 as KH Re:Chain of Memories, however the PS2 version was never released in Europe or Australia. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days was also a Nintendo DS game, released in 2009. Both games tell the story of what took place between Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II. I never played Chain of Memories or 358/2 so I'm excited to learn new things and get some questions answered.

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX is targeting a Q3/Q4 2013 release. Check out the trailer from PAX East below (courtesy of IGN.)
